Life as a Customer Service Assistant

Customer Service Assistants help tenants with all kinds of enquiries about housing, either over the phone or in person. It’s a great job to have if you want to learn about social housing and build a career in this sector. About 20 per cent of our Customer Service Assistants become Housing Officers.

Customer Service Assistants get plenty of training so they quickly become experts on our services. It means they can often answer queries themselves rather than passing them on to another member of the team. As well as talking to tenants, they take care of administration such as collecting and processing information, preparing letters, and handling mail.

Many of our Customer Service Assistants are based at one of our contact centres. Those that are based in a neighbourhood office do a similar role but have face-to-face contact with tenants. They receive and direct visitors, look after the reception area, and organise the meeting room diary.
